Litemind ("we," "our," or "us") operates the litemind.io website and application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we collect your name and email address via Google OAuth or email-based authentication. We do not store your Google password.

User Content

We store the notes, attachments, tags, checklists, and other content you create within Litemind. This content is private to your account and protected by row-level security policies.

Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage metrics including feature usage frequency and AI credit consumption to improve our service and set fair usage limits.

Automatically Collected Data

We may collect standard web analytics data such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited. This data is used solely for service improvement and security monitoring.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Litemind service
• To process your notes with AI features (tagging, organizing, clustering, related notes)
• To authenticate your identity and secure your account
• To monitor usage and enforce fair-use limits
• To communicate service updates or respond to support requests

3. AI Processing

Litemind uses OpenAI's API to provide AI-powered features such as auto-tagging, note organization, and content suggestions. When you use these features, your note content is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this processing. We do not use your content to train AI models.

AI processing is initiated only by your actions (saving a note, clicking organize, etc.). You can use Litemind without AI features if you prefer.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security enabled on all tables. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use environment-based credential management and never store secrets in source code.

Attachments and files are stored in Supabase Storage with access controls tied to your user account.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

• Service providers: We use OpenAI (AI processing), Supabase (database and auth), Vercel (hosting), and Upstash (rate limiting). These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
• With your consent: When you use the Vault share feature to share notes via link, the shared content is accessible to anyone with the link (and optional password/geo-fence).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your notes and data
• Opt out of AI processing features

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. These are necessary for the service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

Litemind is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
